Stephen graduated from Bristol University in1981 where he studied Law. After achieving Honours in his Law Finals at Guildford College of Law, he then joined Clarke Willmott where he trained and qualified in 1984 as a Litigation Solicitor. In 1989 he became an equity Partner and was a member of the firm's Management Board for over ten years. He joined Moon Beever in February 2008 as a Consultant in the Insolvency and Business Recovery team.
He has specialised in insolvency work since 1987 and became the youngest lawyer to obtain the Licensed Insolvency Practitioner qualification a year later. He has been recognised by Chambers & Partners for many years as a "Leader in his field" and regularly lectures on insolvency and debt recovery to other professionals at national conferences and events. He is also the Law Society Director on the Joint Insolvency Examination Board overseeing the examination and appointment of new Insolvency Practitioners.
Stephen has written a standard text on Debt Recovery as well as numerous articles for legal journals and other business magazines and is on the editorial board of a leading credit journal.
For several years Stephen was involved in the Regulatory process of ACCA, latterly as Chairman of their Disciplinary Committee, and in 2008 was appointed one of the Chairpersons of The Methodist Church Complaints and Discipline System.
In his leisure time Stephen combines a full family life with amateur dramatics, church and youth work, a love of the outdoor life and many sports. Notably he is fiercely proud to be a Director of Yeovil Town Football Club, previously the most well-known non-league club in the country but now a fully fledged member of the Football League!
