The memorably named, Bloomsbury Square legal firm, Moon Beever, has really amazed with its generous and full-hearted support of November's Will Aid campaign.
Nicholas Hall, solicitor, worked and is still working hard, with some help from colleagues, to complete over 400 Wills for clients under the Will Aid scheme. Instead of charging the normal fee, clients were asked to donate to the Will Aid charities. The suggested donation is £75 for a single basic Will and £110 for a pair of mirror Wills.
Moon Beever could well raise over £30,000. This money will be put to work by the nine Will Aid charities, which include ActionAid, British Red Cross and NSPCC, to make a real and immediate difference to the lives of people in need in the UK and around the world.
Nicholas said:
" Moon Beever took part in Will Aid in 2008 but the solicitor who carried out the work left, so I decided to take on the challenge. Other participating firms in the area had set limits on the numbers of Will Aid Wills they were prepared to do, so once the publicity started in earnest we were quickly inundated. At Moon Beever, we like to support charity initiatives and wanted to show people that we were prepared to meet the full demand for Will Aid. November and December were like a marathon of Will-writing! I worked very long hours and in the run up to Christmas our waiting room was full most days ."
Will Aid provides just the push many people need to write their Will and so protect their loved ones from the stress and complications that arise when someone dies without one. Feedback from Will-makers was very positive.
Nicholas added:
" Clients were all very pleased that our fees were waived completely and that as a result of the donation, there was no VAT to pay. Many clients were persuaded to finally write their Will to support the Will Aid charities. Will Aid was exciting, tiring, demanding, fulfilling yet I would do it all again! "
